Chinese New Year is an important Chinese festival celebrated at the turn of the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar. Also known as the Spring Festival, the famous celebrations are centuries old.
Traditionally, it was a time to honour deities as well as ancestors, but now regional customs and traditions vary widely. Often, the evening preceding Chinese New Year's Day is an occasion for Chinese families to gather for the annual reunion dinner. It is also traditional for every family to thoroughly cleanse the house in order to sweep away any ill-fortune and to make way for good incoming luck.
Windows and doors will be decorated with red colour paper-cuts and couplets with popular themes of "good fortune" or "happiness", "wealth", and "longevity". Other activities include lighting firecrackers and giving money in red paper envelopes.
The Chinese zodiac is represented by 12 animals and today marks the beginning of the Year of the Monkey. Inspired by this, we've curated a super-cute collection of gifts that are guaranteed to make little ones smile.
A great blanket for all those cheeky little monkeys out there, this piece is delightfully soft and features a fantastic bright, colourful design. What makes this blanket extra special is that we also personalise it with a name, so that the little one in your life can have something to call their very own that was designed especially for them.
You know how much we love this entire collection of knitted dolls, and Mozart is no exception! Handmade from the softest cotton, but with a strong polyester fibre filling to keep him tough no matter where he goes, he's cuddly, loveable and perfect for all ages.
Use proven soothing sounds to lull your baby's coos and cries into calm. With adjustable arms and legs, this playful primate is ready to dance the day away. Then, when it's time to settle down, Marvin the Monkey helps set the mood, playing soothing sounds like a lullaby or the gentle whooshing of a babbling stream.
A stunning addition to a child's bedroom or nursery, this lovely little work of art has great clarity and colour saturation. Stretched by hand over a custom built 1.5” wood frame, the canvas wraps around the sides providing a nicely finished decorative edge. A sawtooth hanger is attached for easy hanging and the artist's biography is included on the reverse, so that children can learn more about the person who created their beautiful gift.
We know there's nothing worse than having a little one lose their favourite toy or security blanket, especially when there's nothing else to replace it with. Luckily, tears and tantrums can all be avoided with a handy Pair and a Spare. Three incredibly soft and cuddly blankets, identical in looks and feel, will make sure that baby never feels abandoned. Measuring at 13” x 13” at least one of this 100% polyester set can travel with you wherever you go, while the others stay safe and sound, should the worse happen.
