Mixed metals and opulent details are currently big news in interior design. Never the sort to shy away from a little glamour, it's a look we love here at Gigi Brooks HQ.

The great thing about choosing a metallic theme for your child's bedroom or nursery is that it can be as bold or as subtle as you like.

We offer beautiful furniture with a dramatic all over metallic finish as well as pieces with gilded accents and motifs for those seeking a more subtle take on this gorgeous trend. Our collection of Bratt Decor furniture is a great place to start and there are some beautiful pieces by Natart too.

There are so many ways to incorporate metallics into a nursery. Choose a bold piece of furniture or opt for subtle shimmer with gilded lighting and accessories. How about adding some decorative pieces of art to an existing scheme or clever wall stencils like these beautiful stars?

Combining metallic tones with other colours will ensure your child's nursery doesn't become dated too quickly. The right scheme will easily see baby right through to their teen years with only a few alterations to décor and accessories along the way.

Bold or pastel colours both work really well. We love mixing turquoise and gold for a dramatic look and pale shades of pink and blue always look stunning alongside silver.

Our favourite combination has to be the cream, pink and antique gold used for Isla’s beautiful nursery on Pink Peonies. Pairing traditionally adult pieces like the rug, curtains, lighting, dresser, chair and ottoman with beautiful artwork, cute unicorn toy and the crib looks effortlessly chic.

This nursery will need very little alteration as gorgeous Isla grows. We'd encourage you to add subtle charm to your child's room with key pieces that are eye-catching without distracting from other decorative elements throughout the room.

If you’re not ready to commit to a piece of metallic furniture, or even a piece with understated gilded details, start with a few accent pieces that you can change if you eventually decide the metallic look isn’t for you. Frames, mirrors, lamps and artwork all allow you to test the waters without committing to an overall scheme.
